Sycorax is an irregular natural satellite of Uranus.
Sycorax was discovered on September 1997 by Philip D. Nicholson, Brett J. Gladman, Joseph A. Burns and John J. Kavelaars. It was first spotted at the same time as Caliban, another irregular moon of Uranus.
- Sycorax has a diameter of about 150 km, making it Uranus's largest irregular moon.
- It was named for the mother of Caliban in the play, "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare.
- Sycorax is 12 million km away from Uranus, 20 times farther out than Uranus's outermost regular moon, Oberon.
- It is considered irregular because its orbit is retrograde.
