S/ 2004 N1 is the newly discovered moon of Neptune.

HistoryEdit

The nameless satellite was discovered on July 15, 2013. It is known as S/2004 N1 because the discovery pictures were taken in 2004 by the Hubble Space Telescope, but remained undetected until 9 years later when Mark Showalter noticed a moving dot.

  • It was the first moon of Neptune to be discovered since 2003.
  • It is about 65,400 miles out from Neptune.
  • The nameless moon is very small, and is estimated to be only 12 miles across. It is the smallest natural satellite of Neptune.
  • It orbits Neptune every 23 hours.
  • It orbits between Larissa and Proteus.
