Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun. It has no atmosphere, so it has a large temperature range. It is the smallest terrestrial planet in the solar system, it's so small, that Titan and Ganymede exceed it in size.

MoonsEdit

Like Venus, Mercury has no moons.

HistoryEdit

Mercury was discovered by ancient astronomers thousands of years ago. It was named after the Roman god of messengers, Mercury.

Exploration Edit

So far only two satellites have explored Mercury, Mariner 10, and MESSENGER.

Predicted FutureEdit

Along with Earth and Venus, in about 5 billion years, Mercury will be destroyed when the Sun turns into a Red Giant.

TriviaEdit

  • It has many craters on its surface because it doesn't have an atmosphere to stop asteroids from crashing into it.
