Iapetus is a moon of Saturn.

HistoryEdit

It was discovered by the astromoner Giovanni Cassini on October 25, 1671. When he observed it he noticed that it got brighter and correctly assumed that one side must have been brighter than the other.

TriviaEdit

  • One hemisphere is very dark, while the other is white.
  • An equateral ridge runs half way around the moon.
  • Iapetus has a large crater called Turgis that takes up 40% of it's diameter and is 580 km across.
